Welcome
to Historic Bates Farm!
A cultural gathering place in Richmond,
Vermont, this property was one of the
original land grants of Governor Wentworth
of New Hampshire to Solomon Bates in 1793.
It remained in the Bates family as a farm
for almost two centuries. In 1986, it was
purchased by Alison Lane Anand, a proud 8th
generation Vermonter who is dedicated to the
spirit of historic conservation. Surrounded
by beautiful vistas, Historic Bates Farm is
now the home of:
Alison's Aquatic School
The Lane
Music Studio
Alison is a career teacher, having taught
music and swimming for many years. She began to teach swimming in
her high school years. This healthy and
enjoyable job became a life-long passion. In
college, she was a competitive synchronized
swimmer, uniting her passions for both music
and swimming as performing arts. Through her
extensive career as a private music teacher,
Alison has developed her expertise at
customizing the learning experience for
individual students. She has transferred
this concept to the Aquatic School in a
unique manner which is not found in other
settings. Her summer aquatic school
brings together all ages for swimming
lessons. When she is not at the pool, she is
giving music lessons, performing on her
violin or landscaping in her Garden of
Hearts. With Camel's Hump as your backdrop,
Historic Bates Farm is an ideal location
for your private pool party, celebration or
ceremony. Please browse the site to learn more
